 The Shopping Card for a Cause is a fundraising concept sponsored by the Junior League of Miami, a non-profit organization dedicated to the empowerment of Miami’s women, children and families.
The Shopping Card for a Cause formula is simple! Here is how it works:
- Individuals purchase a $50 Shopping Card for a Cause with cash, check or credit card. Cards may be purchased from JLM volunteers and participating retail stores. Online orders suspended after Oct. 22, contact one of the Co-Chairs Christie Wolfe or Christie Quinones-Spurling or visit one of the stores in bold below.
- The JLM Shopping Card for a Cause entitles the cardholder to a discount at participating retailers for a nine-day period from October 25 through November 2, 2008.* Only those retail stores who have signed a 2008 contract are eligible to participate in the JLM Shopping Card for a Cause program. Participating merchants (see below) offer a generous 20% discount to cardholders during the JLM Shopping Card for a Cause shopping week.
- 100% of the $50 card purchase supports the mission of the Junior League of Miami and community projects for women, children and families at risk in our community.
- The “Card” is on the back of an easy-to-use directory with a detailed listing of all stores by area and category. These cards must be signed and used only by the cardholder.

This is what purchasing a card will provide our community:
ONE Shopping Card for a Cause provides:
- 5+ books for impoverished elementary school children in our literacy programs.
- 3 school uniform sets for a child in transitional housing as a result of domestic violence.
- Two holiday gifts for a child in transitional housing as a result of domestic violence.
EIGHT Shopping Card for a Cause provide:
- Dinner for 30 low-income families during our All Aboard literacy program evening.
