About the 2002 Honorees
Berta Blecke, granddaughter of Junior League of Miami founder Rebecca Herndon Bush, is a dedicated children's advocate who has been a leader at the forefront of working for the rights and protection of children in this community for years.
Silvia Fortun is a leading fundraiser, volunteer and philanthropist who is serving her third year as president of the Guardian Angels, a support group of Jackson Memorial Foundation which raises funds for the largest pediatric and maternity hospital in South Florida.
Lumane Pluviose-Claude serves Little Haiti as Administrator for the City of Miami Neighborhood Enhancement Team. She facilitates close working relationships with neighborhood associations, residents and businesses, linking the community and its government.
About the Speaker
Victoria Cummock is a national advocate for airline safety. She will share how she has made a difference in airline disaster planning for families of victims following the Lockerbie incident, in which she lost her husband. In addition, she will tell about her current work with families affected by the recent September 11th terrorist incidents. Her work provides an example to us about effecting change and is truly inspirational.
Proceeds from this event help the Junior League of Miami continue its charitable activities in the community and build our Endowment Fund for Community Projects named in memory of past Junior League President Ronni Bermont.
