The Junior League of Miami's first night public affairs meeting occurred in 1961. Join the Provisional Class at the Miami Children's Hospital, 3100 SW 62 Ave., to hear David Lawrence on children's issues as we look to work with the Children's Readiness Coalition in the future.

To celebrate our successes at the Inn Transition North, we will be planting 75 plants to improve the landscaping. Please feel free to bring kids, friends, spouses or other family. There will be a clown and barbecue. If you have gardening tools, please bring them.
Saturday, February 24, 2001, 12:30 p.m.-4:00 p.m., Marjorie Stoneman Douglas Nature Center, Key Biscayne
From the late 60s to the 70s, the League was involved in environmental issues. We helped found what is now the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas Nature Center. Bring your friends and family to a "bring your own lunch" picnic from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. and the Seagrass Adventure from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. This involves a fun and educational guided exploration of the environment. Be prepared to get your feet wet and dirty. We expect to be joined by the Girl Scout Troop we have been working with. Cost: $10.00 per person; $5 for children under 12.
Saturday, March 3, 2001, 2:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. or 4:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m., JLM Headquarters
In 1946, the Junior League first instituted dues of $15 per year. In 1949, our first Sustainers group came into being. In 1995, we acquired our current headquarters. Please join us for tea with sustainers at headquarters at a cost of $15.00. Children under 12 are invited to their own tea at a cost of $5.00. Please R.S.V.P. by Feb. 28 for either the 2:30 p.m. or 4:00 p.m. to Debbie Corbishley. For JLM members, this event, if you can work it, offers "make-up" opportunities. Contact Debbie.
Saturday, March 10, 2001, 6:30 p.m., Miami Museum of Science
The Junior League of Miami was instrumental in establishing this major cultural institution more than 50 years ago. In honor of our role in establishing this Museum and in the future of children served by our community projects, we are hosting a sleep-over at the Museum for children from Inn Transition North and our Girl Scout Troop. Contact Karen Cabrera if you can help with the night or sponsor.
