The Junior League of Miami is pleased to announce its new signature event, “Miami: Who Makes a Magic City,” which will be held on November 1, 2003 at Fairchild Tropical Garden. That evening, the Junior League of Miami will honor 22 individuals, who, through their contributions in the areas of arts, sports, business, literature, medicine, historic preservation, and philanthropy, among others, make Miami what it is... cosmopolitan, cultural, diverse, fun, and, in a word, magical.

The evening will begin with a cocktail party limited to 100 individuals, the honorees, and their guests, which is already sold out. The pre-party will include a tram ride through the Garden and the first cocktail party held in Fairchild’s lush tropical rainforest. Neiman Marcus at Merrick Park and Mariposa Restaurant at Merrick Park have graciously agreed to sponsor the evening’s kickoff cocktail party.

The Main Event
The pre-party will be followed by more festivities open to a larger audience of approximately 500 people. Because the theme of the event is Miami, the sights and sounds of different locations in our community will be represented. Under a tent next to Fairchild's new Visitor’s Center, catered cuisine and drinks typical of South Beach, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables and Little Havana will be showcased throughout the evening. In addition, a silent auction will be held. All proceeds will benefit the Junior League of Miami’s projects aimed at helping at-risk women, children and families in our community. Tickets are $85 per peson. Order Now!

The Junior League of Miami is excited about our upcoming event. The honorees for the evening are:

  • Arthur Agatston, M.D. (cardiologist/author of "The South Beach Diet")
