Gordon’s mission is to help those in need https://www.jlmiami.org/gordons-mission-is-to-help-those-in-need/ Tue, 19 Aug 2025 02:11:57 +0000 https://www.jlmiami.org/?p=6668 “If there were more people like Rémy Gordon in the world …”

That has to be the first impression people get when meeting the founder of Seeking Shelter Inc., a small 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the Miami area that, since 2017, has provided resources and tangible support to those experiencing homelessness and families at risk.

As a 2024 Junior League of Miami honoree of “Women Who Make a Difference,” Gordon’s lengthy biography perhaps could be summed up in one sentence: “Rémy Gordon’s story is one of dedication, compassion and an unyielding commitment to making the world a better place.”

Junior League of Miami Member Long’s service lands her on prestigious list https://www.jlmiami.org/junior-league-of-miami-member-longs-service-lands-her-on-prestigious-list/ Thu, 12 Jun 2025 04:24:51 +0000 https://www.jlmiami.org/?p=6460 It’s been 40 years since Theodora Long joined the Junior League of Miami, which happens to be in its 100th year of existence.

So, there’s no better time for Long, affectionately called “Theo” by her legion of supporters and admirers, to celebrate her latest accomplishment of being named to the inaugural 40 Over 40 Class of 25 list by The Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI) that encompasses more than 150,000 women in 297 leagues across six countries.

Exceptional leadership, service and community impact are just part of the traits for those 40 women, who hail from Northern Virginia to Nairobi.

Long credits her foundation in leadership to the Junior League of Miami.

“The League gave me the confidence, skills and empowerment to lead with purpose and make a meaningful impact,” she said.
