JOINING JLM AS A NEW MEMBER

CRITERIA TO JOIN: 

  • You must be at least 21 years of age when you begin your New Member program.
  • You must be a resident of Miami-Dade County.
  • You share JLM’s values and support our mission to advance women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training. You wish to be united by our commitment to serve our community through trained volunteer service and develop the potential of women everywhere, and you are committed to inclusive environments of diverse individuals, organizations, and communities.

 

NEW MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • DUES – New Member dues are $225 for annual membership. Please note all paid dues are nonrefundable. Depending on the date of your application, dues will be prorated. JLM annual dues cover our fiscal year, which runs from June 1 to May 31.
      • Cohort 1 (June 1 – Aug 15): $225
      • Cohort 2 (Sept 1 – Nov 15): $225
      • Cohort 3 (Jan 1 – Mar 15): $300 (prorated current + full next year)
      • Cohort 4 (Mar 15 – May 30): $225 (applies to the full upcoming league year)

 

  • CURRICULUM REQUIREMENTS – Our New Member Cohort Experience is designed to be completed over a three-month period, allowing new members to join on a rolling basis throughout the year. Cohort start dates are: June 1, September 1, January 1, and March 15.

    Throughout the program, you’ll gain hands-on experience in all aspects of the Junior League of Miami by participating in trainings, meetings, events, volunteer opportunities, fundraising efforts, and fulfilling membership dues.

    Each cohort is assigned a volunteer project with one of our community partners—designed to help you develop skills in planning, leadership, and teamwork. You’ll kick off your journey with a JLM 101 class to introduce you to our mission and how we operate as membership driven organization.

    To support you along the way, you’ll be paired with a New Member Guide—an active JLM member who will be your go-to contact throughout the program. Each group is also matched with a Sustaining Member, who brings valuable insight, history, and mentorship to your experience
